From the pen of a child

I was leafing through some of my old notebooks when I found and entry from when
I was 11 1/2 years old. It was originally written in German, but I translated it as accurately as I could.
This is the evidence that even a child can be touched by the love of Jesus. It is never too early to have serious thoughts, and even a young child can grasp important truths.


"Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5



•"You care about me and give me that which I need."
•"You always answer my prayer as you see fit."
•"I can rely upon You completely, because I know that You take care of me. "

Oh that I may never lose this childlike faith. May I still ever rely upon the One who cares for me.
May I ever claim my Savior's promises. 
More of Jesus, and way less of me.

Great Things

Let's be honest. I don't think there is anybody that does not desire to accomplish great things. A lot of us want to impact the world in mighty ways; yes we want to bring about change that is noticeable. There is nothing wrong with wanting to do great things, but I do believe that we don't fully understand what is "great" in God's eyes. Working at the nursing home has taught me that some of the greatest things in life are little things in the world's eyes. The world does not consider holding a dejected man's hand, or looking at a picture book with a 95 year old woman as "great" things, but I can assure you that it means a great deal to the individual. A cheerful smile, an extra measure of patience, and the willingness to serve regardless of gain are great things my friend. May The Year 2016 Be Different

A new year has begun Lord, and I want this year to be the best one I have had yet. I am not asking for earthly wealth, and am not seeking ease, but Lord I pray that this year will be different. May this year be the year that I draw closer to You than I have ever before. May this be the year where I learn to trust You with every aspect of my life. May this year be the year where I reach more souls, and touch more lives.  Lord, I have learned from personal experience that I can do NOTHING in my own strength. All my righteousness is as filthy rags, but I also KNOW that YOU can and long to cover me with YOUR righteousness.  Lord, I know that Your ways are so much higher than my own, and it is my prayer that I may trust Your more this year than I have ever before. True Peace

"It is the love of self that destroys our peace. While self is alive, we stand ready continually to guard it from mortification and insult; but when self is dead, and our life hid with Christ in God, we shall not take neglects or slights to heart. We shall be deaf to reproach, and blind to scorn and insult." -The Signs of the Times (December 27, 1905) What a powerful quote, and oh what great implications it has for our lives. It took being in a relationship to show me just how much I love "self". When self sits on the throne, life is a chaotic mess because you spend all your time and energy trying to keep "self" from being hurt or slighted. Every little hurtful word is enough for your whole kingdom to crumble. Oh what a sad life to live!
