May The Year 2016 Be Different

A new year has begun Lord, and I want this year to be the best one I have had yet.
I am not asking for earthly wealth, and am not seeking ease, but Lord I pray that this year will be different.
May this year be the year that I draw closer to You than I have ever before. May this be the year where I learn to trust You with every aspect of my life. May this year be the year where I reach more souls, and touch more lives. 
Lord, I have learned from personal experience that I can do NOTHING in my own strength. All my righteousness is as filthy rags, but I also KNOW that YOU can and long to cover me with YOUR righteousness. 
Lord, I know that Your ways are so much higher than my own, and it is my prayer that I may trust Your more this year than I have ever before.
Lord, I pray that this year will be the year where my heart is truly broken for that which breaks Yours, and that my eyes may ever be open to see a world in need. May I not be afraid or ashamed to stand up for You.
Lord, I know that there will be days when I fail, and times when I may lose hope, but I pray that this is the year I learn to reach out my hand to You even when I can't see Your face. May I learn this year that it is not what I do, but where my heart is that matters most to You. 
Lord, let this year be different. May I fall so in love with You that I long to spend every waking moment in Your presence.
In my own strength I can do nothing, but I trust that You WILL complete the good work you have begun. Lord let this year be different. May Your presence be sweeter to me than every before, and may I grow, mature, and be a blessing through Your strength.

May the year 2016 be different!

Great Things

Let's be honest. I don't think there is anybody that does not desire to accomplish great things. A lot of us want to impact the world in mighty ways; yes we want to bring about change that is noticeable. There is nothing wrong with wanting to do great things, but I do believe that we don't fully understand what is "great" in God's eyes. Working at the nursing home has taught me that some of the greatest things in life are little things in the world's eyes. The world does not consider holding a dejected man's hand, or looking at a picture book with a 95 year old woman as "great" things, but I can assure you that it means a great deal to the individual. True Peace

It took being in a relationship to show me just how much I love "self".
