I Want To Go Home!
When I heard about the disastrous earthquake that struck Nepal, and when I saw the suffering and turmoil these people are going through, it truly broke my heart.
What breaks my heart even more however is the fact that so often we are so satisfied with the things of this world. What does this world have to offer? Fleeting joys, empty pleasure, and a lot of heartache? Is that truly worth living and striving for? Oh how I long for my heavenly home. This world holds no attraction for me. I realize however, that while I am to keep my eyes focused on heaven, my heart needs to go out to the people around me. We are called to be Jesus' disciples, and this does not mean idly waiting for the Lord's return, but rather actively reaching a world in spiritual darkness. We have a hope to share, a light to bear, and a testimony to proclaim.
The following poem expresses my heart cry. It is simple, unedited, but it comes from my heart.
Oh how I long for heaven,
How I long to see my Savior’s face,
How I long to be with Jesus,
And to feel the warmth of His embrace.
This world is not my home;
My life journey is heaven bound.
My focus is on a better place,
Where no pain and suffering will be
found.
How can we live for earthly gain
While there are souls perishing in sin?
How can we be so complacent,
And yet still think that the race we
will win?
This world needs Jesus my friends.
This world needs a hope from above.
This world needs our Savior and Friend.
This world needs to experience our
Father’s love.
Let us step into the darkness,
Into the highways and byways let’s go,
To bring words of hope and courage,
And to the hurting our Savior’s love
show.
Break our hearts dear Father,
And make us so in tune with You,
That we become like Jesus,
In everything we say and do.
