He Cares!
This afternoon my heart was very heavy. I have been thinking about a dear friend of mine who is struggling spiritually, and it breaks my heart to seem experiencing so much pain, and being enshrouded by a cloud of confusion and darkness. Oh that they may realize that Jesus is the only answer! The Christian walk may not always be easy, but it is a life that has a purpose, and it brings with it a joy so sweet and a peace so transcending.
Thinking about this friends has made me search my heart as well. Am I truly interceding for this person as though their life depended on it? Do I give up on this person because I don't see a response, or do I pray just as fervently today as I did two years ago? Does my life testify that I walk with Jesus?
As already mentioned, my heart was very heavy. But God somehow always comes through, and gives me reminders that He cares. I was walking to class, when I saw a little sparrow, and I immediately thought about the passage in Matthew 10
"Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31
What a blessed thought! If I care so much even though my heart is so selfish and carnal, I can't fathom how much the Holy One cares and loves His struggling ones. I was reminded once again that God will do everything He possibly can to save this friend. This thought proves to be such a comfort. While I am to do my part with undivided attention, I can leave the rest up to the One who loves us more than we can possibly imagine. Why are we to be cast down when we are sons and daughters of the King? Oh what a blessed assurance to know that we are coworkers with the Everlasting Father!
